The table shows maximums. Your amount depends on National Insurance years (10 minimum, 35 for the full new State Pension; more if contracted out) — how it's calculated — and whether you deferred (+5.8% a year). Personal figure: gov.uk forecast.
A council-funded care home resident on the full new State Pension keeps £31.80 and contributes £209.50 a week from the pension (£241.30 − £31.80). A self-funder's full new State Pension covers £12,547.60 a year of fees. Attendance Allowance is on top and not means-tested. Compare with real fees: care home costs by area.
The next rates depend on AWE growth (May–Jul 2026, published Sept 2026) and CPI (Sept 2026, published Oct 2026), confirmed in the uprating statement expected in November 2026, paid from April 2027. This page becomes /new-rates-2027-28/ on the day of the statement.
